Standards Review launch
We recently completed the 5 yearly review of Standards for Professional Registration across all four of our registers. Chartered Scientist, Chartered Science Teacher, Registered Scientist and Registered Science Technician.
This process ensures the competencies we use to assess scientists, science technicians and science teachers are up to date and relevant. We wanted to make any change straightforward to implement for our members who are key to maintaining and growing our registers.
As a result of this process the only change to the competencies across all four registers is:
- The removal of competency D3 from the Registered Scientist register.
- D3 used to read: D3: Participate in the design, development and implementation of solutions.
- This will be removed from official guidance, documents and the Common Application Process. The previous competency D4 will be re-labelled ‘D3(previously D4)’ for a period of time to prevent confusion.
There will be no change to the Chartered Scientist, Chartered Science Teacher or Registered Science Technician competencies.
In addition to this there are minor changes to the presentation of the documents which have been communicated to Licensed Bodies.
To accompany these changes a new set of guidance documents have been produced, one for each register, which are designed to assist applicants, Licensed Bodies and assessors.
