Outstanding Woman in Science Award for Science Council President
Professor Catherine Ross has received the Outstanding Woman in Science Award from WISE for her leadership, passion and determination as Chief Scientific Officer for Scotland.
Women into Science and Engineering (WISE) was established in 1984 to highlight the career opportunities for girls and women in science and engineering professions. Today it helps people, organisations and businesses, and raises the profile of women and girls in STEM.
The annual WISE Awards celebrate outstanding women in STEM and organisations which are making impactful changes to their gender balance. The citation for Catherine says:
Catherine is a dynamic leader who has transformed the delivery of healthcare science in Scotland, making major impacts as a scientific leader in the UK and Europe.
She shows a clear passion for not only her day job, but also for inspiring the next generation by supporting local groups with STEM activities.
She is determined to improve equitable access for all and uses her experiences to influence and develop policy within her role in the Scottish Government.
We are privileged to have Catherine as our President. Congratulations from everyone at the Science Council!
