Free online workshops designed to help you learn more about professional registration and start you on your professional registration journey. 

We know that some people appreciate support during their application for professional registration. Therefore, we offer a detailed programme to help you in your registration journey.  

To take part in one of our 2026 Introduction to Professional Registration workshops, simply complete the registration. Links to the pre-workshop resources will then be made available to you via your confirmation email.

Rob Butler CSciTeach, Applicant Support Mentor

Rob was a science teacher for over 20 years, spending the last six as a deputy head before leaving to pursue a career as an independent consultant. Rob is a Field Officer at the Association for Science Education (ASE) and also holds Chartered Science Teacher status through them, gaining his professional registration in 2011. Rob is passionate about science at all levels of society and the importance of being professionally registered.

Sarah MCafferty RSci, Applicant Support Mentor

Sarah has over a decade of experience working in research laboratories across Higher Education and Industry. She is a Registered Scientist (RSci) with the Institute of Science and Technology since 2019 and a Science Council CPD Award winner, recognised for her commitment to continuing professional development. A former member of the University of Edinburgh’s Technician Steering Committee, she led the committee’s communications and social media initiatives. Sarah is a passionate advocate for technical careers, actively promoting diverse career pathways when participating in public engagement activities. She is dedicated to raising the profile of technical staff and supporting professional development within the scientific community.
