Professor Della Freeth has announced her retirement from the Science Council after three years as Chief Executive, and she will finish at the end of July.

On behalf of the Board, and our member organisations, I would like to thank Della.

Della has made a significant contribution to the organisation during her time in post. She has helped ensure that the organisation continues to serve its member organisations, registrants and the wider scientific community with professionalism, purpose and a clear sense of public benefit.

Under Della’s leadership, the Science Council has strengthened its strategic focus, its engagement, efficiency and effectiveness, and laid firmer foundations for the future. Della has led with integrity and commitment, supporting the Science Council’s role as a trusted voice across the science professions.

As Della enters a retirement that will provide more time for both family and voluntary roles, we thank her for all she has done for the Science Council and for the wider science community. We wish her well for the future.

An announcement on her successor will follow in due course.

David Wells, Chair of the Board of Trustees
