For the first time, the Engineering Council, the Science Council and the Society for the Environment are bringing together our communities for a registrant-led conversation around professional registration.
Three illustrious professionals with backgrounds in engineering, the environment, and science will be discussing their experiences of professional registration – what it means to them personally, professionally, and in the wider context.
Whether you’re considering professional registration, already working towards it, or simply interested in hearing from those who have taken that step, this webinar is an opportunity to hear different perspectives from across the professions and have your questions answered.

Dr James Fox PhD CSci
James is the Head of Technical Operations for the departments of Biology, Health Science and the Hull York Medical School at the University of York. He first became professionally registered at Registered Scientist level in 2016 and as his career progressed, he moved to Chartered Scientist in 2020. He is a registration champion for the Science Council, a registration mentor for his employer and for the University Bioscience Managers Association as well as a registration assessor for the Science Council and Institute of Science and Technology.
Becoming professionally registered in 2016 helped me “stand out” from others for the new role that i was applying for at the time. Since becoming registered it has opened up new networking and development opportunities and I am a passionate advocate for others to become registered!

Aya Youssef CEnv
Aya Youssef is a Senior Environmental Consultant at Mott MacDonald, with experience in environmental management and sustainability across major water infrastructure projects in Qatar. Her work focuses on integrating environmental compliance, resource efficiency and sustainability practices into project delivery and operation. She is also a PhD candidate at Hamad Bin Khalifa University, researching climate resilience within the water–energy nexus, with a particular interest in translating systems thinking and research into practical infrastructure solutions.
Registration reinforces the responsibility to apply sound professional judgement, maintain high ethical and technical standards and ensure that environmental considerations are meaningfully integrated into decision-making rather than treated as a separate compliance requirement.
For me, it reflects a commitment to continually developing as a professional and to contributing credibly to more resilient and sustainable infrastructure.

Dr Evona Teh CEng FIET
Dr Evona Teh is a Chartered Engineer and Strategic Foresight and Innovation Lead at Jaguar Land Rover, where she co-founded the Strategic Foresight function within Corporate Strategy and works on long-term enterprise strategy and future mobility systems. Her doctoral research in human-machine systems was supported by the Dorothy Hodgkin Postgraduate Award through an industry partnership. She is a Royal Academy of Engineering Visiting Professor at Imperial College London, advancing engineering education and mentoring engineers and researchers, and serves as a user expert on Research England’s REF2029 Main Panel B. Evona is a Trustee of the Engineering Council Board, having been nominated by EngineeringUK and appointed in 2026. A Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), she contributes to professional registration as a Professional Review Interviewer and interviewer trainer, and chairs Jaguar Land Rover’s Professional Engineer Development Committee (PEDC). She was recognised as one of the Top 50 Women in Engineering and is a WISE Awards Finalist.
Professional registration gave me a framework to grow with intention. It has shaped not just how I practise engineering, but how I lead and think about the profession’s future.
