After two successful terms as Chair of the Science Council’s Registration Authority, Dr Hilary Jeffreys CSci, is stepping down from the role.
The past 8 years have seen Dr Jeffreys lead the Registration Authority through two Standard Reviews of all four Science Council registers and develop and implement new and more accessible routes to registration, like the Shortened Application Route for apprentices, with our member bodies.
We would like to thank Dr Jeffreys for her enthusiasm, commitment and tireless efforts in her role as Chair of the Science Council’s Registration Authority.
“As Registration Authority Chair I feel very privileged to have worked with very talented and dedicated Science Council teams and volunteers to support the Science Council in elevating the science workforce and setting the professional standards for scientists helping to shape a better future for all. Over the years it’s been wonderful having the opportunity to develop and implement the different routes to registration with our Licensed Bodies, increasing accessibility and the attractiveness of professional registration and also raising the profile of technical education.” – Dr Hilary Jeffreys
“Hilary has been an exceptional chair over her two terms. She has steered the Registration Authority through a process of customer focus and simplification, ensuring that the registration and licensing work of the Science Council is focussed focused on our members, registrants, potential registrants and the wider scientific community. Alongside her role in the Registration Authority, Hilary has used her expertise and influence to work with the technical pathways project and has ensured that many more technicians can gain professional recognition for their skills and competencies.” – Jennifer Larwood, Registration and Licensing Manager
The new Co-Chairs of the Registration Authority, Karen Brazier CSci and Russell Wilson CSci, will now step fully into the role, continuing the legacy of Dr Jeffreys with the support of the Registration Authority committee. Meet the new Co-Chairs.
The Registration Authority is a vital cog in the workings of the Science Council; responsible for setting and maintaining robust and high-quality professional standards and ensuring that registrants on all four of our registers (CSci, RSci, RSciTech, CSciTeach) meet these standards.
