Why it’s important for teachers to be Chartered

Being a Chartered Science Teacher has helped me in my post-teaching role. A number of organisations view CSciTeach with appreciation, it has given me credibility.

My son trained to be an engineer and during his graduate and post-graduate years chartered status was built into his education. He’s now in a new job where achieving chartered status is a requirement. I would like to see this happening in future – an expectation that professional science teachers aim for chartered status, which shows others that you have reached the highest level of practice in your field of expertise.

Commitment to continuing professional development makes you a better teacher, there’s no doubt about it in my mind.
